Master Planning and Urban Design

Let’s get the foundations in place: there’s no element of master planning or urban design with which we are not either deeply familiar or vastly experienced, whether analytical design skills, professional management or robust development solutions that recognise the fundamental importance of strong urban design solutions developed through consultation. We are concerned with creating places.

What makes us different is recognition of the commercial realities of the development process and ensuring that our design solutions represent value for money to our client. We’ve a long-established range of processes and techniques to monitor the economics of projects, and which help attract investment and encourage participation from all stakeholders.

That comes with our awareness and understanding of market influences and the expectations of the local authority planning teams, developers and future residents and occupiers – in both the public and private sectors. It also stems from analysis that goes beyond the immediate context.

We recognise that establishing a common agenda for collaborative relationships is important. Instrumental to this process is the engagement of local knowledge and the commitment of stakeholders such as planners, local authorities, development agencies, local organisations and interested parties, social housing providers, other consultants and, of course, the client in every stage of the process. Collaboration between those parties will set the agenda and produce a shared vision and programme of action for the development.

This approach inevitably leads to accelerated and sure-footed decision-making and a sense of ownership for all involved. And that saves time, and money, and promotes harmony.
