Services - our Interdisciplinary Way of Working

Interdiscipline is invisible. It simply happens. There is no snagging around interdiscipline, no cracks to fill, no gaps to align.

But what is interdisciplinary as opposed to multidisciplinary?

Multidisciplinary is about assembling a group of individuals or businesses – many of whom have often never previously met, who have different geographical bases, cultures, approaches, styles and paces – and, in the context of a property or construction project, expecting them to deliver on time and on budget.

There are gaps. If it’s two or more businesses getting to know one another – and their systems, processes, culture – it can be a vastly longer, more complex, more costly and more wasteful get-to-know-you phase before things start to move smoothly.

But McBains Cooper defines interdisciplinary: there is no get-to-know-you phase amongst the assembled team, no co-ordinating of systems or processes. Project turn-key is instant, because every professional property and construction consultancy skill and capability is harnessed in one can-do culture; one team, complementary and overlapping, seamlessly moving as one, communicating as one, delivering as one.
