North Kent Police Station has yet again scooped a couple of award nominations including finalist in The Concrete Society Awards and the Roses Design Awards.
The £30m PFI police station is located in Thames Gateway. The 11,500m² four-storey landmark building features an innovative geothermal heating and cooling solution, reducing carbon footprint by 32 tonnes and making great energy savings.
The building has been shortlisted in the Best Public Building category in the Roses Design Awards 2009 for its striking design.
These prestigious national Awards recognises and rewards the achievements in the best architectural designed projects outside of London.
Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be announced on the 23rd October.
McBains Cooper is also finalist in The Concrete Society Awards and winners will be announced at the awards dinner on 13 November 2009.
The Concrete Society Awards have been run by The Society since 1968 and somewhere in excess of 500 awards have been given over that time. The Awards initiative recognises excellence in the use of concrete in New Structures, both in Civil Engineering and Building capacity.
