MEDIA RELEASE Leading interdisciplinary consultancy McBains Cooper has been appointed by Worcestershire County Cricket Club for the development of the new Graeme Hick Pavilion at its New Road ground.
McBains Cooper will provide cost management to the £2 million project which forms Phase One of the Club’s ambitious redevelopment plans for the County Ground.
“The current members’ pavilion dates back to 1899 and will be dismantled and stored for reconstruction as part of a future phase of development,” said Glyn Thomas, Director of McBain’s Cooper’s Birmingham office.
The new two-storey pavilion, which will be named after the legendary Worcestershire and England Cricketer, Graeme Hick, who recently retired after 25 seasons with the County, will have a contemporary design and be built above the flood plain thus allowing the business side of the Club to operate at all times.
It will house new cricketing facilities fit for the 21st Century including changing rooms, umpires’ room, cricket office, players’ dining room and physiotherapy/rehab area as well as a new members’ lounge to be named after Tom Graveney, OBE and new seating in front of the pavilion.
A glass frontage will show-case the world-famous views over the ground to the cathedral.
The project is scheduled to complete in May this year. |
